Pedestrian Accidents in California
Recent studies revealed that in 2016, about 3,986 fatalities occurred in large truck accidents, and pedestrians were within the 16 percent of those accidents that consisted of pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorcyclists. Unfortunately, the reason most truck accidents occur is due to drivers being fatigued. Sometimes drivers are under the pressure of deadlines, which causes them to overextend themselves on the road. To fix this issue the government created rules and regulations for truck companies to enforce amongst their drivers. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, pedestrians still lose their lives almost every day.
The police are investigating this accident to determine what caused the tractor-trailer to strike and kill Scott. They’re checking logbooks for information regarding how many hours the truck driver spent on the road leading up to the crash, and whether there were any mechanical issues. Once they conclude their reports, the deceased victim’s family may be able to file a wrongful death lawsuit with the help of a California wrongful death attorney.
