Stockton, CA – Fatal Truck Collision on Highway 99
Stockton, CA (January 9, 2019) On the 8th of January, a fatal truck collision happened on Highway 99 just south of Arch Road. According to the reports, a disabled 2012 Peterbilt silage truck blocked the right lane as it was parked on the shoulder of the highway at approximately 5:06 a.m. Simultaneously, a 2013 Peterbilt semi truck was traveling at about 55 miles per hour and behind it a 2017 International semi truck. The Peterbilt yielded and moved to the left to avoid hitting the parked silage truck, but the International semi truck failed to slow down. The International semi truck crashed into the Peterbilt and then into the silage truck. When emergency crews arrived to help, they found the driver of the International semi truck dead at the scene. He was identified as 36-year-old Pedro Avila. The state of the other drivers is unclear at this time. This accident is currently under investigation.
We are saddened to know that a life was lost in this accident. We send Avila’s family our condolences as they work through this difficult time.
