Fresno, CA – Fatal Hit-and-Run Auto-Pedestrian Accident on Hughes Avenue
Fresno, CA (January  15, 2019) On the evening of January 15th, a fatal hit-and-run auto-pedestrian accident happened on Hughes Avenue, just south of Belmont Avenue. According to the reports, a vehicle struck a homeless woman at around 5:30 p.m. and proceeded to drive off without stopping.
When emergency crews arrived, they found the homeless woman lying in the street suffering from serious injuries. Although she was rushed to the hospital, she did not survive her injuries.
Fortunately, the police found the driver a mile away from the crash site. When they asked the driver why they fled the scene, the driver claimed to have thought the homeless woman was a shopping cart.
The identity of the driver and the pedestrian is unknown at this time.
We are sad to learn that a woman lost her life in this accident. We send our deepest condolences to her family as they begin the difficult grieving process.
