How to Condemn the Health of a Nation: A Beginner’s Guide
Advocates of genetically modified foods, Monsanto’s glyphosate-based herbicides, and firm believers in the Environmental Protection Agency are still arguing that low levels of glyphosate exposure are perfectly safe for human beings. The amount of glyphosate considered to be safe according to the European Union is 17 times less then the Environmental Protection Agency here in America says is safe to consume. Scientists and even former Monsanto employees have been telling us for years that there is no safe level when it comes to ingesting glyphosate but for some reason, consumers still seem to be wildly confused on the issue.
The herbicide Glyphosate is the primary active ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup and Ranger Pro. There are roughly 750 kinds of glyphosate-based herbicides. Glyphosate-based herbicides are the most commonly used herbicides in the world. Glyphosate residue has been detected in our tap water, breast milk, children’s urine, chips, most processed snack foods, wine, beer, eggs, cereals, products containing wheat, products containing soy, oatmeal, and almost all other conventional foods that have been tested so far.
If you still feel that you need additional reasons as to why glyphosate is unsafe to consume in any amount, read on.
Babies and Other Small Children
Babies and other children have bodies and internal organs that are not yet fully formed. They have livers and kidneys that are weak and do not yet have the capacity to rid themselves of toxins the way fully-formed adult organs are able to do. This makes their tiny bodies particularly susceptible to the damaging effects of glyphosate consumption. In a recent scientific study, The American Academy of Pediatrics was quoted as saying that children, particularly, should avoid the consumption of these herbicides because “prenatal and early childhood exposure to pesticides is associated with pediatric cancers, decreased cognitive function and behavioral problems.”
There’s No Getting Rid Of It
Try as you might, once glyphosate is on something it cannot be rubbed off, cooked off, steamed off, washed off, or boiled off. Reports have shown extensive evidence of this chemical bioaccumulating in the tendons, muscle tissue, and bone marrow of those who ingest it. Bioaccumulation of these “safe, low levels” will inevitably turn into the bioaccumulation of higher levels after a certain length of time. So even if you still wanted to argue that low levels of glyphosate in your system are safe then at some point you would have to cease all consumption because the levels in your blood will just keep growing.
Monsanto
Not only is this chemical brought to you by the same chemical company that gave you Agent Orange and DDT, but more recently Monsanto was found guilty on every single count in the case of Johnson vs Monsanto in San Francisco’s Supreme Court. One of the charges of which they were found guilty was a charge of “malice and oppression”. This means that the executives of the Monsanto company were well aware that their glyphosate-based products likely caused cancer and took steps to hide this information from the public. If you still think that you should trust anything that Monsanto has to say then I have a bridge I’d like to sell you…
