Fresno, CA – Fresno Police Officer Killed in Fatal Crash on Highway 180

Fresno, CA (February 5, 2019) – A Fresno Police Officer lost his life, as well as one other person, in a fatal crash that took place on Highway 180 last evening, February 4.

The deadly accident took place around 5:00 p.m. near the area of McCall Avenue, according to police, and involved various vehicles. At the time, a pickup truck had been turning from DeWolf Avenue onto the highway and accidentally went into the westbound lanes. The motorist continued onward in the wrong lanes and crashed into a Dodge pickup truck head-on, as well as slightly crashing into a few other vehicles.

The wrong-way driver and the Dodge driver, identified as the Fresno Police Officer, were killed at the scene of the crash. They were the only occupants inside their vehicles at the time.

The names of those involved have not yet been released, as family is still being notified. A few other occupants were injured and treated, but they are expected to be okay.

An investigation into the accident continues at this time.
