Los Angeles, CA – Hit-and-Run Driver Injures 6 on Central Avenue
Los Angeles, CA (February 17, 2019) Central Traffic Officers were called to the scene of 33rd Street and Central Avenue for a traffic accident. It was determined that 30-year-old Wilfredo Vaquiz Escobar, of Los Angeles, committed a hit-and-run at 2:40 a.m. on February 17. Within the officers’ inquiry, it was shown that Escobar was driving his white 2017 Honda Accord at a high speed as he went southbound on Central Avenue. As he approached 33rd Street, Escobar lost control of his car. There were 6 passengers in the vehicle at the time.
As Escobar spun out he hit six parked vehicles, leaving them all badly damaged. As well, the power of the accident caused one of Escobar ‘s male passengers to be thrown from the car where he landed on the street. When Escobar’s vehicle eventually stopped, it had settled on the wrong side of the street.
Paramedics came to the scene and took four of the passengers to the hospital. They were listed as being in stable condition. Two other passengers were looked at for injuries and let go at the scene.
Escobar, as the driver of the vehicle, left the area where the accident occurred. He didn’t stop, give aid, and identify himself, actions required by law.
Officers searched for Escobar and arrested him at his home in South Los Angeles around 8:00 a.m. Escobar was booked for DUI which caused injuries.
When drivers are involved in a collision, they should always pull over and stop as soon as it is safe, call 911, and stay at the scene to identify themselves.
Passenger Injuries in an Accident
Being involved in a major car accident can be confusing and overwhelming. As a passenger, you were obviously not to blame for the accident. Fortunately, passengers who are involved in a car accident have several options.
The first thing that insurance companies try to resolve is which person is at fault for the incident. They make this statement which includes police reports, statements from the parties involved and any witnesses.
You should contact an attorney as soon as the at-fault driver is determined. This is because, if the driver of the car who you were a passenger in is said to be at fault, you have the legal right to file a claim. An experienced attorney can help with this process and get you financial compensation for any injuries that you incurred in the accident. Liability should pay for medical expenses, lost wages and any pain and suffering.
