Wrongful Death Accidents in California

Driving is very dangerous. It is important to always stay safe, never drive distracted, and never drink and drive. However, accidents can still happen even if you are careful. When an accident leads to someone’s death, whether this is via an accident, on purpose, or through an automobile defect, the deceased’s families may be entitled to recompense for wrongful death. When filing a claim, you need to find a lawyer who can assist you.

Common causes of car accidents that can lead to a fatality include distracted driving, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, speeding, unsafe passing, driver tiredness, street or highway problems, car defect, and young or older drivers who are not experienced.

In order to have the standing to file a wrongful death lawsuit, you typically must be an immediate family member such as a spouse, child, or parent of the deceased. However, logistically it will be the personal representative of the estate that will file the suit on behalf of the deceased’s estate and family members. For more information about how this process works, be sure to consult an attorney.

Losing your loved one because of an accident is horrifying.
