Dana Point, CA – Vito DiGiorgio Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Coast Highway
Dana Point, CA (February 26, 2019) – On the 23rd of February, a fatal pedestrian accident happened on Pacific Coast Highway at around 6:11 p.m. According to the reports, a 78-year-old man named Vito DiGiorgio and his wife were crossing the highway outside of a marked crosswalk after leaving the beach when three cars struck him. A white Range Rover was the first to hit DiGiorgio, which threw him into a northbound lane where a silver Dodge Ram and a black Toyota Solara struck him right after.
When the paramedics arrived at the scene to help, DiGiorgio had already succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, his wife made it across the highway unharmed.
The three drivers that struck him remained at the scene and cooperated with the police as they conducted their investigation. Witnesses who saw the accident from an outdoor patio at a nearby bar provided information regarding the tragedy. Crews shut down the Pacific Coast Highway as they cleared and investigated the scene.
