Del Norte County, CA – Bicycle Accident on Highway 101 Near Morrison Creek

Del Norte County, CA (February 27, 2019) – A serious bicycle accident took place on Highway 101 near Morrison Creek Road on Tuesday night, February 26, causing serious injuries to the bicyclist involved, who was hospitalized for their injuries.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the accident, which took place in the 9700 Block of Highway 101 in Smith River. Authorities arrived and found the bicyclist lying on the ground after he was believed to have been struck by an unknown vehicle on the highway.

Paramedics were called to the scene to give treatment for major injuries and rushed the bicyclist to the emergency room. The current condition and name of the bicyclist have not been released.

Police are expected to give a statement on whether or not the vehicle driver stayed and cooperated with police or not. The accident is still under investigation at this time.
