Lucerne Valley, CA – Driver Killed, Passenger Airlifted After Crash on Old Woman Springs Road
Lucerne Valley, CA (March 2, 2019) – A vehicle was T-boned by a street sweeper in an accident that took place Friday afternoon, March 1, at the intersection of Old Woman Springs Road and Visalia Avenue. In the aftermath of the accident, a man was killed and a second man was taken to a hospital trauma center.
A Hyundai Elantra was moving south on a dirt trail near the 35000 Block of Old Woman Springs Road around 4:30 p.m. The car was then hit by a street sweeper, which had its brushes up, and was driving at highway speeds.
San Bernardino County Firefighters were on the scene as soon as possible. The four-door sedan sustained horrific damage and, even though paramedics took life-saving measures to try and save the victims of the crash, the male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
County helicopter H325 airlifted the second person suffering from life-threatening injuries to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
The official cause of the crash is still under review by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office.
