Escondido, CA – Wrong-Way Crash on I-15 Injures One From Suspected DUI
Escondido, CA (March 3, 2019) – A possibly drunk driver in a pickup truck crashed into another truck head-on while traveling in the wrong direction on Interstate 15.
California Highway Patrol was notified that the accident happened around 1:38 p.m. on March 2nd. The pickup truck was traveling the wrong way in HOV lanes on I-15 near Auto Park Way; the driver was going southbound in northbound lanes.
Just a few minutes later, dispatchers were told the pickup had crashed into the other vehicle near Via Rancho Parkway, according to a CHP incident log.
One passenger in the wrong-way truck was transported to Palomar Medical Center with serious injuries. The driver was uninjured and is suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was arrested on the scene. The driver of the other truck had some pain but did not have to be taken to the hospital.
