San Diego, CA – San Diego Police Officer and Suspect Run Over by Car on Midway Drive
San Diego, CA (March 3, 2019) – A San Diego police officer and one more person were transported to the hospital Thursday, February 28th, after being struck by an automobile.
The officer was restraining a vandalism suspect on the ground right before 5:00 a.m. in the 3500 Block of Midway Drive. Right before the incident, the officer was pursuing the suspect on foot. A witness stated that as the officer reached the suspect he then pinned him to the ground in the middle of the street. It was a dark area with no lighting nearby.
That was when the two were hit by the car.
Both victims were taken to the hospital immediately after the accident. The officer is listed as in serious but stable condition, and the vandalism suspect is in critical condition.
The driver who struck the pair remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the injured victims in this collision, and we hope for their complete and expeditious recoveries.
