Alleged DUI and Two-Vehicle Crash on Midway Drive, Point Loma Leaves One Injured
San Diego, California (June 21, 2018) – Local news reported that one person was injured after a vehicle collision and alleged DUI accident on Midway Drive in the vicinity of the Point Loma neighborhood. The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 PM on Thursday, June 21, 2018. Authorities have not yet revealed the identities of the motorists and their current physical conditions to the public.
Police officers stated that the accident took place in the 3600 Midway block near the Valley View Casino Center in Point Loma. Without warning, a white sedan and black SUV collided and caught fire as a result of the brutal impact. Immediately, paramedics assisted the SUV driver, who had sustained minor injuries in the wreck and transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Authorities speculate the sedan driver had consumed alcoholic drinks before the crash and was driving under the influence. Reports also indicate the vehicle matched the description of a sedan involved in a hit and run that had taken place earlier in Pacific Beach. At present, the police and legal officials have not revealed the charges that may be directed towards this man, as the investigation is currently ongoing.

As per reports, officials believe the driver of the sedan might be guilty of drunk driving. Pending a final verdict, the suspect could face criminal charges of varying degrees. Different factors including blood-alcohol levels, the brutality of the crash, the extent of inflicted injuries, and previous convictions could determine the severity of the charges. DUI is a serious crime and should not be taken lightly.
Should the motorist be convicted of DUI and negligent driving, the SUV driver will have the legal right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the guilty party. By seeking legal assistance, the victim can be compensated for a variety of problems including excessive medical bills and serious physical distress.
