Angels Camp, CA – John Vanwey Dies after Accident on South Main Street near Mayo Street
Angels Camp, CA (July 12, 2018) – Local police reported that a man died as the result of an accident that took place along South Main Street near Mayo Street. The incident occurred at approximately 5:00 AM in the morning on Sunday, July 1, 2018. Authorities have identified the victim as 60-year old Jon Vanwey and the motorist as 55-year old Jutta Larson, both residents of Angels Camp.
As per the police report, Larson was driving a 2012 Equinox northbound on South Main Street when, at some point, she plowed into Vanwey. Afterward, Vanwey was transported via air ambulance to a hospital in Modesto, where he succumbed to severe trauma on July 7, 2018. Authorities confirmed Larson did not sustain injuries in the crash.

Forensic teams will examine photographs of the crash site and inspect the 2012 Equinox for mechanical issues or system failure.
