Atascadero, CA- Hit-and-Run Injures 1 on Highway 101 Near Traffic Way

Atascadero, CA (April 4, 2019)- A man hurt in a hit-and-run accident has been identified as 48-year-old Richard Jennings, an Atascadero resident. Jennings was injured on Wednesday, April 3 at around 9 am on Highway 101 and Traffic Way in Atascadero.

The California Highway Patrol noted that Jennings was heading northbound on Highway 101 when a Ford F-150 hit his Toyota Tacoma on the right side of his vehicle.

According to the report, the Ford truck was attempting to make a lane change in an unsafe manner when the collision occurred. The force of the crash threw the Toyota Tacoma through a fence and into an oak tree.

Following the crash, the Ford truck fled on foot. By searching documents left in the truck, police identified him as a 39-year-old Creston man named Richard Lawrence Gonzales.

The CHP is leading a search for Gonzalez.

Jennings experienced moderate injuries in the crash.
