Pedestrian Accident in Bakersfield
By law, drivers are required to decrease the speed of their vehicles and provide the right of way to pedestrians along all areas of a roadway. Based on the information provided in the report, however, officials have not revealed if the victims had been walking in a marked or unmarked crossing zone on Olive Drive.
As part of the ongoing investigation, forensic teams will inspect the vehicle and examine photos of the crash site to determine if the driver had experienced mechanical issues or system failure, forcing the vehicle to swerve out of control. Authorities will also consider if drugs, alcohol, negligence, recklessness, or distracted driving contributed to the collision in any way.
In the event of a pedestrian accident of this nature, the non-guilty injured victims may have the option of filing a personal injury lawsuit against the guilty party to receive compensation for multiple issues including medical bills and painful injuries.
