Beers Made With GMOs or Other Dangerous Chemicals
More and more Americans are starting to choose what they eat very carefully, or are at the very least learning to pay some attention to it. When it comes to drinks, however, especially alcoholic drinks, most of us do next to nothing to make even basic good decisions concerning our health which is understandable. No one wants to give up their favorite drink. Unfortunately for some people, this is a big mistake. All of the healthy eating and exercise that you do for your body can be completely undone in one wild weekend. Interestingly enough, where the foods we eat and non-alcoholic beverages are obliged to list their ingredients on the packaging and are also monitored by the Food and Drug Administration, beer does not technically belong in either one of these categories. Newcastle Brown Ale
Newcastle Brown Ale gets most of its warm, brown color through the use of caramel coloring. Class 3 and 4 caramel colorings are manufactured from ammonia, which is a chemical that has long been classified as a human carcinogen. While the alcohol is a carcinogen in and of itself, finding a balance in your drinking will probably lessen your possibility of developing cancer over time. More added carcinogens, however, will produce the exact opposite effect in the human body. Newcastle Brown Ale is “the one and only” beer with extra cancer in every bottle.
Budweiser
One of the single most popular beers in the United States, and certainly the most advertised is Budweiser. Budweiser includes genetically modified corn in its recipe. Back in 2007, Greenpeace operatives found experimental genetically engineered rice in Anheuser-Busch’s Budweiser beer.
Corona Extra
Corona may be well known for its laid back, beach themed advertisements and its legions of Parrot Head supporters but its ingredients are anything but refreshing. Corona Extra contains genetically modified corn syrup as well as propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is a wildly controversial chemical and is under review to find out how it may potentially be harmful to your health.
Miller Lite
This is another extremely popular beer here in America. Miller Lite is sold at just about every restaurant, dive bar, grocery store, 7/11, and corner gas station across the country. Too bad this popular alcoholic beverage contains genetically modified ingredients in its recipe such as genetically modified corn and corn syrup.
Michelob Ultra
Setting aside for the moment whether or not Michelob Ultra should even be considered a beer, this watery tasting beverage with a low ABV has been found to use GMO dextrose, a genetically modified sweetener
There are plenty of beers out there that do not use genetically modified ingredients and some that are fully organic. If this information is to difficult for you to source, then stick with liquor.
