Bicycle Accident on Highway 89 Kills 70-Year-Old Paul Ingles
(June 13, 2018) A 70-year-old man who was sadly killed on his bicycle Sunday has been identified as Paul Ingles of San Rafael. According to authorities, Ingles was riding his bicycle when a vehicle that was heading southbound on Highway 89 struck and fatally injured him. The authorities confirmed that the accident happened in the morning, although they did not provide a specific time.
According to California Highway Patrol, 23-year-old Susan Draper has been ID’d as the driver of a Toyota who, for unknown reasons, veered too far to the right while driving and struck Ingles on his Bicycle. Tragically, the injuries that Ingles suffered as a result of the accident claimed his life as he was pronounced dead at the scene. California Highway Patrol confirmed that Draper was not intoxicated at the time of the crash, although an investigation into speeding or distracted driving is still ongoing.
Wrongful Death Attorney
While there is currently an investigation being conducted in order to determine if Draper was operating her vehicle negligently, many factors could still be at play. An investigation is looking to prove whether or not Draper acted negligently behind the wheel, and in the event that she did, a wrongful death lawsuit could likely follow that determination. Despite the results of the investigation, we send our warmest thoughts and prayers to Mr. Ingles’ family and loved ones during this tragic time.
If negligence is proven, and a wrongful death suit follows, the family could recover all medical and funeral expenses as well as compensation for the loss of companionship and/or possibly future wages. Of course, it is entirely up to Mr. Ingles’ family if to decide if they wish to seek financial compensation for their losses.
