Bicyclist Killed in Sacramento DUI Crash

Pedestrian Crash Kills 1 on Truxel Road

Sacramento, California (June 19, 2018) – A bicyclist was killed as the result of a deadly DUI crash that took place around 12:00 noon on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The collision occurred in Sacramento, California near the South Natomas Library on Truxel Road. Sources have not yet disclosed the identity of the unfortunate victim as they work to notify next of kin, but initial reports indicate that the victim died from the injuries sustained during the collision. Police have identified the motorist as 22-year old Anthony Vega.

First responders arrived at the scene and despite the efforts of paramedics, the bicyclist was declared deceased on site. Upon speaking with Vega, officers became suspicious that Vega may have potentially consumed or smoked marijuana and was high while driving his vehicle which may have contributed to the accident. After the incident, law enforcement arrested Vega on charges of driving under the influence of chemical substances. At present, investigation teams and officials are attempting to piece together additional factors that may have caused the accident.
