Blackhawk, CA- Fatal Bike Accident Near Mt Diablo Scenic Blvd  

Blackhawk, CA (June 27, 2019)- A blue Chevrolet SUV collided with a bicyclist at approximately 4:30 pm Wednesday, killing the bicyclist.

According to the California Highway Patrol. 46-year-old Maayan Jones died in a head-on collision with the SUV near Mount Diablo Scenic Boulevard and Diablo Ranch Drive. Emergency medical personnel found Jones down in the road. He was taken to Athenian School by ground ambulance, and from there taken by air ambulance to the John Muir Medical Center trauma unit. He passed away after arriving at the hospital.

The SUV’s driver stopped and cooperated with police. Officials do not believe that substances were a factor in the crash.
