Cajon, CA – 35 Injured in 19-Vehicle Crash Along 15 Freeway
Cajon, CA (January 16, 2019) On the 16th of January, a 19-vehicle crash happened along the southbound 15 Freeway through the Cajon Pass just after 9:00 a.m. According to the reports, hazardous weather appears to be what caused 19 vehicles, including a FedEx truck and big rigs, to crash into each other and pile up on the highway.
When emergency crews arrived to help, they found a total of 35 people suffering from minor to moderate injuries. Many of them refused to be transported to a hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Several other people were transported to area hospitals for treatment and further evaluation.
Crews shut down the freeway in both directions at Oak Hills for about an hour as they worked to clear and investigate the scene.
We hope each injured victim fully recovers from their injuries and for those who refused medical treatment will still be evaluated to ensure no future complications develop.
Multi-Vehicle Crash in California
Recent studies show that out of the millions of vehicle accidents that happen every year in the United States, 22 percent of them are caused by weather conditions. As a result, almost 500,000 people end up suffering from injuries that range from minor to catastrophic. Whenever drivers are on the road in extreme weather conditions, they are required to drive with extra caution to avoid putting themselves and others in harm’s way. When they decide to speed, use their cell phones, driving under the influence, converse with passengers, and more, it’s easier for an accident to occur when the weather is already a distraction.
The police are currently working to find out if negligence played a role in this 19-vehicle collision. Because so many vehicles were involved, determining liability may be complex, but once the police finish their reports, it’s likely that personal injury lawsuits will be filed with the help of California personal injury attorneys.
