Caltrans Worker Injured in Pedestrian Crash

Bradley Haupt Struck and Injured by Vehicle in Madera County

Madera County, California (June 15, 2018) A vehicle struck and severely injured a Caltrans worker in Madera County, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred on Avenue 41 near Avenue 15

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Bradley Haupt from Fresno, California. Initial reports indicate that Haupt had been working on road repairs on the shoulder of the avenue when he was struck by a 1993 Geo heading northbound. The Geo veered to the right in an attempt to avoid crashing into another vehicle and collided with Haupt.

Upon arriving at the scene, first responders administered initial care to Haupt and transported him to a Fresno hospital to receive medical attention for his injuries.

The driver of the Geo has been identified as Bethany Gunther, a 32-year-old woman from Woodland, California. She remained at the scene following the crash and cooperated with authorities. She sustained no injuries during the collision.

The California Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
