Car Crash in Redding Severely Injures 1

Edwin Sutton and Jonothan Pelaske Injured in Car Accident on 5 Freeway

Redding, CA (June 15, 2018) – Two drivers were involved in an intense collision that took place around 12:15 PM on Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Bay Bridge Road. Initial reports have identified the drivers as 30-year old Lakeland resident Jonothan Pelaske and 65-year old Edwin Sutton.

With traveling southbound on Interstate 5, Sutton’s 2004 Mercury collided into the left side of Pelaske’s Nissan, resulting in the deadly crash. Sources indicate that Sutton had suffered serious injuries at the scene and first responders administered care at the scene. However, the severity of Sutton’s injuries necessitated more substantial treatment and he was transferred to Mercy Medical Center. According to reports, Sutton was declared to be in fair condition and his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Pelaske, who did not suffer any injuries, was on parole prior to the accident. He was arrested on the scene after handing a false ID to officers. Charges have not yet been filed against Pelaske as of the time of posting. 

Traffic on Interstate 5 was delayed as a result of the crash and continued to be delayed as officials collected evidence and cleared the accident. Normal traffic resumed by 3 p.m. At present, officials have not determined a cause behind the collision, and an investigation is ongoing into the cause and details of the accidents.

As a whole, the factors behind the interstate crash still remain a mystery.
