Carlsbad, California – Two Severely Injured after Deadly Traffic Accident at El Camino Real and Faraday Avenue
Carlsbad, California (July 9, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a deadly traffic accident took place at the intersection of El Camino Real and Faraday Avenue. The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 PM at night on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Authorities have not revealed any detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the crash at this time.
Based on the report, police officers on duty had attempted to block an allegedly stolen Acura at El Camino and Faraday. Despite signals from law enforcement, the driver did not decrease speed and continued northbound across El Camino. Ultimately, a chase ensued, and officers pursued the vehicle for over three miles. Then, without warning, the Acura driver swerved down the road and crashed into the front of a BMW.
Personnel reported that the BMW occupants, a 27-year old woman and a 28-year old woman, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Reports have not specified their current physical conditions.
Meanwhile, a 25-year old man and a 43-year old woman, both passengers in the Acura, sustained severe injuries from the impact and were transported to a hospital, where they received treatment for their trauma.
Crews reported that the Acura sustained heavy damage during the accident.
As of now, the California Highway Patrol and the Carlsbad Police Department are supervising the ongoing investigation.
