Carmel Valley, CA – One Dead, One Severely Injured after Two-Vehicle Collision and Suspected DUI on Carmel Valley Road

Carmel Valley, CA (July 24, 2018) – Local news sources have provided updates about the identity of the driver who sustained severe injuries as the result of a two-vehicle collision and suspected DUI that took place on Carmel Valley Road near Country Club Drive. The incident happened at approximately 7:40 PM at night on Thursday, July 12, 2018. As of now, officials have identified the injured driver as 69-year old Sarah Coleman. Meanwhile, the second driver has been revealed to be 18-year old Margot McNally. One fatality, identified as 16-year old Annabelle Vandenbrouke, was also reported.

According to initial reports, McNally was driving a Nissan Pathfinder along Carmel Valley Road and poorly executed a curve. As a result, the Pathfinder crossed the central double yellow line and plowed into a GMC Suburban SUV driven by Coleman.

As a result of the crash, Coleman sustained major injuries and required hospitalization.

Vandenbrouke, who was a passenger in the Nissan, had apparently not been wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash. As medical personnel administered treatment at the hospital, the Carmel High School student died from traumatic injuries.

Meanwhile, McNally, who had been wearing a safety belt, suffered from a fractured tailbone. Later, authorities arrested her on charges of driving above the legal speed limit and DUI.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Annabelle Vandenbrouke during this tragic and difficult time. We also extend our most loving prayers to Ms. Sarah Coleman and wish her a swift and efficient recovery.
