Castroville, CA- Fatal Head-on Collision on Highway 1 Near Highway 183

Castroville, CA (March 15, 2019) – A head-on collision killed one and injured two on Highway 1 near Highway 183 around 6:45pm on Wednesday, March 13.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a Honda Civic in the northbound lanes swerved into the southbound lanes and crashed into a Toyota Camry.

The driver of the Honda, a 19-year-old from Castroville, died at the scene of the crash. The driver of the Toyota, a 56-year-old woman from Watsonville, as well as her 17-year-old son, was taken to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of moderate injuries.

The reason the Honda driver veered into the other lane is unknown. The crash is under investigation by the CHP.
