Rainy Highway Conditions
The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration reports that approximately 47% of weather-related car accidents occur because of rain (versus snow, ice, and other conditions). Approximately 3,400 people are killed and 357,300 are injured due to rain-related accidents annually.
Winter weather, in most parts of California, means an increase in rain. Since many Californians only experience rainy highway conditions for half the year, it is easy to forget that these conditions require drivers to pay extra attention to the road and adjust their driving techniques if necessary.
No matter the weather, all drivers are required to pay attention to the road, adjust their speed, and keep an eye out for their fellow drivers.
