Chula Vista, CA. Multi-Vehicle Crash on 805 Freeway After Sofa Falls Off Truck

Chula Vista, CA. (July 5, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a crash on the Fourth of July involving at least five vehicles on 805 Freeway after a sofa apparently fell off the back of a truck. The crash took place at around 4:20 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

The driver of a truck and trailer that was hauling the couch was heading northbound on the freeway when the sofa reportedly fell off the back of the truck shortly before H Street. Several other vehicles either collided with each other or swerved away in order to avoid hitting the sofa. The large collision between vehicles resulted in one of the cars catching fire after making impact. One other vehicle overturned onto its side following the crash, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At this time, how many people were injured in this crash or how serious their injuries may be is unknown. It certainly seems as though the driver who lost the sofa on the freeway will likely be considered responsible for all the damages and/or injuries that resulted.
