Coachella, CA – Bicyclist Raul Gulliver Killed By DUI Accident on Grapefruit Blvd

Coachella, CA (April 28, 2019) – A DUI-related crash involving a vehicle and a bicyclist occurred on April 28 just after 2:15 a.m. and took the life of one person.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred on Grapefruit Boulevard. 34-year-old Raul Gulliver was killed by the drunk driver while riding his bicycle. The drunk driver was identified as Hector Polanco, 32.

Polanco was behind the wheel of a pickup truck headed southbound before hitting Gulliver who had been traveling northbound.

Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured drivers. The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene upon the arrival of paramedics.

Authorities have arrested and will hold Hector Polanco fully responsible after being confirmed to have been under the influence while operating a vehicle.
