Coachella, CA- Street-Racing Crash Leaves Two Dead at Grapefruit Blvd and Mitchell Dr

Coachella, CA (May 21, 2019)- Two vehicles were involved in a possible street race that killed two people when grey Ford truck crashed into a white passenger vehicle on Friday.

The accident occurred at approximately 6:54 pm at Grapefruit Boulevard and Mitchell Drive. The cash left the Ford driver dead at the site of the crash. Another person in the truck was extricated from the damaged vehicles by emergency personnel and taken to Indio’s John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital. She died from her injuries soon after arriving at the hospital. In addition, the driver of the white car suffered severe injuries and was taken to the hospital by air ambulance.

27-year-old Coachella man Estavan Jesus Donato was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter on Saturday. While officials noted that the crash did involve street racing, Donato’s specific role in the accident is currently unknown.
