Coalinga, CA – Four People Hospitalized after Collision on Interstate 5 near Derrick Avenue
Coalinga, CA – (November 11, 2018) – A Two-Vehicle accident landed four people in the hospital Sunday morning on a freeway in Coalinga. The collision transpired just before 8:30 am on northbound lanes on the 5 Freeway, just south of the Derrick Avenue off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Lexus GX470 SUV and another unidentified vehicle collided for unknown reasons while heading northbound on Interstate 5. The force of the impact caused the Lexus to overturn and land on its roof. Officials confirmed, five minors occupied that vehicle. Police and firefighters rushed to the crash site and rendered aid to all of the victims who sustained injuries in the accident. At least four people were transported to local hospitals for treatment. According to the initial report, the injuries sustained in the accident were termed as major.
The crash remains under an active investigation.
