Costa Mesa, CA – Multiple Injuries Reported after Police Pursuit Ends in Collision along Harbor Boulevard and Harbor Center

Costa Mesa, CA (July 29, 2018) – An Orange County local news source reported multiple people sustained injuries during a car accident that resulted from a police pursuit along Harbor Boulevard and Harbor Center. The incident happened at approximately 10:50 AM in the morning on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Police have identified the culprits as 27-year old Destiney Nielson and 21-year old Jonathan Martinez. No more detailed information concerning the identities of the victims has been revealed at this time.

According to reports, police first pinpointed a stolen vehicle that was traveling along the northbound lanes on Harbour Boulevard, the vicinity of Hamilton Street. While trying to stop the vehicle, Destiney Nielson, the driver, did not decrease speed and continued down the route for a half mile. Once the stolen vehicle began to cross the junction, it careened into traffic that had been stalled at the intersection.

Sometime later, emergency crews were dispatched to the crash site and rendered medical aid to the victims of the crash. Officials confirmed five individuals sustained non-life threatening injuries during the impact. The current physical conditions of these people have not been disclosed.

Later, police located detained and arrested Nielson for possibly stealing a vehicle and for driving under the influence. Likewise, Martinez was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing drugs.

As part of clean up procedures, law enforcement officials blocked off Harbor Boulevard for over one hour. Presently, the case is still under investigation. As more evidence continues to surface, more information will be released to public sources.
