Concord, CA – Pickup Struck and Killed Bicyclist on San Miguel Road

Concord, CA. (July 11, 2018) – A local news outlet reported that a 60-year-old man died from injuries he sustained after a pickup truck hit him while he was riding his bicycle on San Miguel Road early Wednesday morning. The deadly accident occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m. in Concord.

The fatal collision took place while both the bicyclist and the pickup truck were traveling south on San Miguel Road, in the vicinity of Systrton Drive. Reportedly, the pickup truck and the bicyclist collided for reasons that are presently unknown. The driver of the pickup, a 57-year-old man from Antioch, called 911 immediately following the accident and reported the crash. The driver of the pickup apparently cooperated with investigators, fully.

Unfortunately, the impact of the crash caused severe injuries to the bicyclist that proved to be fatal. The bicycle rider was sadly pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. San Miguel Road had to be shut down for over three hours as authorities began the investigation. The cause of this fatal collision is currently unknown, and police are working on a detailed investigation at this time.
