Corona, CA – Motorist Dies after Violent Traffic Accident at Intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Santana Way

Corona, CA (August 31, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a motorist died as the result of a violent traffic accident involving multiple vehicles that took place at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and Santana Way. The incident happened at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 30, 2018. As of today, the Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased victim as 29-year old Corona resident Michael Arellano. No detailed information concerning the identities of the Jeep and the Jetta driver has been revealed at this time.

Based on the initial report, an unidentified man had been driving a Jeep Cherokee northbound along Magnolia when, at some point, he failed to stop with traffic that had stalled at a red light. Meanwhile, Arellano had driven his Honda Accord into the left turn lane and was attempting to turn into a nearby shopping center when, without warning, the Jeep plowed into the rear of his vehicle.

The force of the impact sent the Accord careening into the junction of Magnolia and Santana and plowed into a Volkswagen Jetta.

Right after the crash, Arellano was transported to Corona Regional Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died sometime later.

Meanwhile, the Jeep driver was sent to Riverside Community Hospital to receive injuries of an unspecified nature.

Officials confirmed the Jetta driver did not sustain injuries during the impact.

As of now, investigators are looking into the cause of the crash.
