Multi-Vehicle Crashes in California
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, deaths in multi-vehicle accidents accounted for 45% of all vehicle accident in California in 2017. This totals 1,623 fatalities in accidents involving more than two cars.
A one-car or two-car accident can become a multi-car accident very quickly. Speeding and distracted driving are just two of the reasons why a driver might collide with cars that are already involved in a crash. Anyone who commutes regularly on California’s roadways knows how quickly a car pile-up can occur. However, few people ever expect to experience these accidents first-hand.
