Crash on 580 Freeway Near Flynn Road Turns Fatal

Livermore, Califorinia (June 22, 2018) – A fatal traffic collision occurred along the Interstate 580 Freeway on Friday afternoon, according to local news reports. The accident occurred on the freeway, near the Flynn Road off-ramp around 3:50 in the afternoon.

According to initial reports from the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when a Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle and another unidentified vehicle collided on the eastbound lane of the freeway.

Paramedics and local first responders were sent to the scene of the accident. Paramedics administered care to the crash victims, but the motorcyclist suffered catastrophic injuries and died at the scene as a result of the injuries sustained. The condition of the driver of the other vehicle has not yet been disclosed to the public, and it is unclear at this time if the individual remained at the scene of the crash.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released as officers seek to inform the individual’s next of kin about the events.

Due to the accident, a portion of the 580 freeway was closed to allow first responders and police an opportunity to document the scene and take statements from those involved. The freeway remained closed for approximately 30 minutes and traffic in the area was substantially delayed.

The accident remains under investigation.
