Head-On Collisions in California

Head-on collisions take place when two cars driving in opposite directions hit each other. These incidents can be devastating, and they may even cause one or more wrongful deaths. This can happen due to a mistake, like one driver driving on the wrong side of the road. Or they can happen because of drunk driving, distracted driving, or mechanical issues. If you ever view a car coming straight towards you, absolutely do anything you can to try and avoid the collision, even if you have to leave the road.

In a head-on crash, you have to show negligence or recklessness on the part of the other driver. To prove that, you need to show the other driver’s carelessness which caused damages. Choosing to drive drunk or while fatigued is a breach of duty because you are more likely to make mistakes, like driving the wrong way or swerving.

Liability in a head-on collision depends on if either or both drivers were negligent at the time of the accident. Negligence in a head-on collision may involve distracted driving, failure to yield, or drunk driving. The at-fault driver in a head-on collision in California may be liable to any injured drivers, passengers, or pedestrians for medical bills, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Devastating injuries that can arise after a head-on collision are brain trauma, paralysis, broken bones, and even disfigurement.
