Deadly Accident Involves a Garbage Truck on Wilton Road in Sheldon
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, one woman has died after a head-on collision between her vehicle and a garbage truck. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:14 p.m. just north of Consumnes River at 10821 Wilton Road. Reportedly, the garbage truck had gone off the road and soared down an embankment southeast of Grant Line Road. The male driver became trapped in his vehicle following the collision.
Approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled into the road, and that roadway was completely closed down while police investigated the crash. The victims’ 4-door Sedan ended up with severe damage as the result of the collision with the garbage truck. Currently, it is unclear whether or not there were any other passengers in the Sedan.
Sheldon Crash Investigation
At the moment, it is still unclear who exactly was responsible for this accident. If the garbage truck driver is found to have been operating the truck negligently, then there could likely be personal injury and/or wrongful death claims filed against that driver or the company that owns the truck. A thorough investigation is currently underway to determine exactly who was at fault for this fatal crash. In any event, our hearts and condolences are with the victim and his loved ones in their time of need.
Nearly every accident involving large trucks results in serious personal injury and or wrongful death. If the investigation proves that the truck driver, in this case, acted negligently, there will most likely be one or more claims for compensation to follow. However, it is always entirely up to the victim and/or their families to pursue legal action.
