Dinuba, California – Woman Dies after Hit-and-Run Crash near Avenue 408 and Road 104
Dinuba, California (July 5, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a woman died as the result of a suspected hit-and-run crash that took place in the vicinity of Avenue 408 and Road 104. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 AM in the early morning on Wednesday, July 4, 2018. Recently, authorities identified the deceased victim as 21-year old Fayth Cerda, a resident of Dinuba. Officials indicated that Cerda was riding as a passenger in a vehicle operated by 21-year old Sultana resident Jennifer Magana, who also sustained injuries after the impact. At this time, police have not provided detailed information concerning the identity of the male hit-and-run driver.
Based on the news reports, Magana was driving a red 2005 Toyota Matrix westbound on Avenue 408 at the same time a 2011 Chevy Malibu was speeding down the same route. Without warning, the Chevy plowed into the Toyota, causing Magana to lose control of her vehicle and crash into a nearby telephone pole. Officials reported that the unidentified male Chevy driver had been speeding above the limit of 55 mph before the crash.
Afterward, first responders arrived at the scene and found Cerda trapped in the wrecked Toyota. Later, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, officials reported that Magana had suffered a broken leg and internal injuries, and, later, she was transported via air ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center. Medical personnel have not disclosed her current physical condition.
Law enforcement reported the male driver had left the Chevy, which had skidded into a field after the accident. Although he departed in a second car, he later returned to police custody. Officers believe he may have consumed alcohol prior to operating the vehicle.
We extend our deepest condolences and most loving thoughts to the family and friends of Ms. Fayth Cerda during this difficult time. We also extend our most loving prayers to Ms. Jennifer Magana and wish her a swift and efficient recovery.
