Car Crash on Highway 255 Hospitalizes 1
Arcata, CA (June 17, 2018) – A two-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon severely injured one motorist. The accident occurred in Arcata, CA and necessitated the hospitalization of one victim.
The accident occurred on Highway 255 near the Jackson Ranch Road off ramp and initial reports state that the collision happened around 4:30 p.m.
A Dodge Avenger and a Kia Sorrento collided along the freeway, though the cause of the collision has not been released to the public.
Samoa, Arcata, and Humboldt Bay Fire departments responded to the accident. Upon arriving at the scene, paramedics and first responders administered care to those injured and directed traffic around the accident. Further examination revealed that the injuries sustained by the driver of the Kia Sorrento necessitated further care, and they were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the Avenger fled the scene of the accident and is still being pursued by law enforcement officials.
After taking statements from those involved in the accident and witnesses to the collision, first responders removed debris from the highway and the normal flow of traffic ras resumed by 6 p.m.
Local officials are conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash and will take into account all evidence at the scene as well as the absence of the Avenger’s driver into account when making their final determination.
