El Cajon, CA – One Person Killed in Fatal Car Crash on Interstate 8 Freeway

El Cajon, CA (August 10, 2018) – A local and trustworthy news source reported a fatal motor vehicle accident which took place on the Interstate 8 Freeway on Friday afternoon. The deadly crash was reported to have taken place on the eastbound side of the freeway above Marshall Avenue at approximately 5:30 p.m.

An initial investigation into the crash found that a man who was driving a 1998 Ford Contour was cut off by an unidentified driver. The actions of the other driver caused the driver of the Ford to swerve across all lanes of the interstate and ended up wedged under a 2013 Kenworth T660 tractor-trailer. The big rig dragged the Ford for a short distance.

Authorities stated that the impact of the collision caused the tractor-trailer to catch on fire. The man inside the Ford was reported to have been pinned inside his vehicle beneath the burning big rig. Medical personnel was called to the scene where they sadly pronounced the victim dead. The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed in the accident, and no information has been provided in regards to the motorist who triggered the collision.

With the exception of the far left lane, the rest of the eastbound Interstate 8 Freeway was still shut down as of 10:45 p.m. A detailed investigation into this accident is currently being conducted.
