El Centro, CA- Major Injuries in Semi Crash at Forrester and Ross Roads
El Centro, CA (May 8, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported a major injury accident involving a big rig that took place on Tuesday at the intersection of Forrester Road and Ross Road.
The crash occurred when 46-year-old Oceanside woman, Heather Noonan, ran through a stop sign in a Mercedes while headed westward on Ross Road. She then collided with a Peterbilt tractor-trailer driving northward on Forrester Road.
66-year-old Los Banos resident Guillermo Gaona, the driver of the big rig, was uninjured. However, Noonan was brought to a Palm Springs hospital for treatment of major injuries.
The CHP reported that substances are not believed to be involved in the accident and that both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
The crash is under investigation.
Our thoughts are with Heather Noonan and her family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.
California’s Large Truck Pre-Inspection
Big rig trucks require regular inspection and maintenance in order to remain safe on the road. Due to the size of these vehicles, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration requires that pre-trip inspections be completed before a big rig gets on the road. These thorough inspections involve checking the engine block and fan, fluids, tires, brakes, and many other aspects of the truck.
A pre-inspection cannot prevent human error while driving, however. If you’ve been hurt in a large truck crash— either as the truck driver or as a victim of a crash with a big rig– you deserve the support of an aggressive team of attorneys with experience dealing in large truck injury cases in California.
