El Centro, CA – SUV Hauling U-Haul Trailer Crashes on the I-8 at Dunaway Road
El Centro, CA (May 11, 2019) – A single-vehicle accident involving an SUV hauling a U-Haul trailer occurred on May 11 at 10:32 a.m., that took the life of two people and injured seven children.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred on the Interstate 8 Freeway at Dunaway Rd., according to the California Highway Patrol. It appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The crash took place when the 1999 Ford Expedition pulling a U-Haul trailer crashed into the bridge support post at Dunaway Road. The 42-year-old male driver and his 31-year-old female passenger were both killed in the crash.
The injured children included a 12-year-old boy who had cuts and abrasions. He was taken to Loma Linda Medical Center. A 10-year-old girl suffered facial abrasions and a tourniquet for her leg and a 4-year-old girl with undisclosed injuries. They were taken to Rady Children’s Hospital. A 5-year-old boy had burns to his calf and abrasions, a one-year-old boy had a contusion on his forehead and a 2-year-old boy suffered a broken clavicle to El Centro Regional Medical Center. Also hurt in the crash was a 6-year-old girl who was taken to Riverside University Hospital.
