Escondido, CA – Five People Injured during Brutal Collision near South Quince Street and W 10th Avenue

Escondido, CA (July 16, 2018) – Local law enforcement reported that five people, including two children, sustained injuries as the result of a brutal collision that occurred in the vicinity of South Quince Street and W 10th Avenue. The incident happened at some time in the evening on Sunday, July 15, 2018. Authorities have not revealed any detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the crash at this time.

As per the police reports, two unidentified men were operating an allegedly stolen red Hyundai Elantra in the area of South Quince and W 10. At some point, police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not decrease speed. Later, the Elantra sped through a red light slammed into an oncoming Honda CVR, which was ultimately sent reeling into a nearby residential home. As a result, this crash caused a chain reaction, which occurred when the Elantra crashed into three more vehicles that were parked along the street.

First responders tended to two children and one adult woman and transported the victims to a nearby hospital for more in-depth treatment. Officials have not revealed the extent of injuries sustained by these people.

Authorities also took the driver and passenger of the Elantra to Palomar Medical Center / Center Escondido.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
