Fallbrook, CA – Driver Critically Hurt Chasing Hit & Run Driver On S. Mission Rd.

Fallbrook, CA (May 11, 2019) – Two vehicles crashed in a Fallbrook intersection on Thursday morning. One driver fled the scene and the other driver followed, and the chase ultimately ended in a chain reaction crash with a driver critically injured.

A driver in a brown GMC SUV collided with a Ford Mustang at around 9:40 a.m. on southbound South Mission Rd. at Stage Coach Ln.   However, instead of pulling over, the drivers began to pursue one another, heading southbound before turning northbound on South Mission Road. As the drivers got to the intersection at Stage Coach Lane, the SUV driver fled the scene.

As the Mustang entered the intersection, the car was struck by an oncoming Honda CRV that was traveling westbound on a green light within the intersection. After being hit by the Honda, the Mustang kept moving, hitting two more cars, a Toyota Tundra and a Volvo V60. That ended the chase.

The two people inside the Mustang suffered injuries in this chain reaction crash. Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid. The injured victims were transported to Palomar Medical Center for treatment and further evaluation. The drivers and passengers in the other vehicles experienced pain but were not seriously injured.

We send healing thoughts to the injured parties and their families at this time.  Our thoughts are with them all during this difficult time as we hope for a full recovery.

What to Do if the Driver Leaves the Scene in California

If you are in an accident and the other car leaves the scene, you may not know what steps to take. Here’s a breakdown:

Record the color, model, and make of the vehicle involved. If you can see the license number, record it too. Talk to any witnesses that saw the accident get their contact information. Take photos of any damage to your vehicle.

Call the police. Give them any information regarding the incident so that you can increase the chances of finding the runaway driver.

Since the driver who would have covered damage is at large, you will need to meet the cost for damages with your own insurance policy. Therefore, it is vital to contact your insurance provider immediately. A hit and run driver can also be treated as an uninsured driver via your insurance policy.

Leaving the scene of an accident is serious. If you are involved in an accident and the driver leaves the scene, do not follow them! Call an attorney to investigate what your options are in this case.
