Fallbrook, CA – Fatal Car Crash near State Route 76
Fallbrook, CA – (November 18, 2018) – According to authorities, a 20-year-old Whittier man was killed in a DUI hit-and-run accident early Saturday morning near Fallbrook. The deadly accident took place just before 5:00 am on November 17th on Interstate 15 near State Route 76.
Reportedly, the driver of an unidentified vehicle drove up to the truck scales in Rainbow and informed an operator that they had been involved in a hit-and-run accident. According to investigators, the driver had a badly injured person inside the car. The driver then continued northbound and arrived at Rancho Springs Hospital where the injured passenger died of the injuries they sustained in the accident. CHP believes the car might have made other stops before reaching the hospital. As per the CHP, three people were inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was a 23-year-old Torrance man, suspected of DUI. His passengers included a 21-year-old Torrance man who sustained injuries and the 20-year-old Whittier man who died at the hospital. Officers found what appeared to be the remnants of a car accident, including pieces of what might have been a callbox, on the side of northbound Interstate 15 past state Route 76. There are several circumstances surrounding this accident that remain unresolved.
The California Highway Patrol has assumed authority over this investigation.
