Fatal Car Crash on Highway 101

1 Killed in Crash in San Rafael, CA

San Rafael, CA (June 17, 2018) – A multi-vehicle collision in San Rafael killed at least one individual on Saturday evening.

The deadly crash happened on the US 101 Highway around 11:25 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

Multiple vehicles were involved in the accident including a motorcycle. The final number of vehicles involved were not immediately disclosed by the CHP.

Shortly after the collision, emergency responders were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they directed traffic around the accident and paramedics administered care to those injured. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, authorities said that at least one individual was killed as a result of the collision. This individual’s name was not immediately disclosed as authorities work to inform their next of kin.

Further identifying information for others involved in the accident was also not conveyed to the public.

Traffic was delayed around the scene as officers documented the evidence and took statements from those involved. Afterward, the debris was removed from the highway and the regular flow of traffic was resumed by 2 a.m. the following morning

An investigation into the exact nature and cause of the accident is ongoing.
