Fatal Crash in Leggett

Leggett, California. (June 22, 2018) — One individual has been confirmed dead as the result of an accident on Shoreline Highway 1 on Friday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision involved at least two vehicles and took place at approximately 10:41 a.m along a curve in the highway. At the time of posting, the exact number of victims and vehicles involved in the accident have not been released to the public.

Police and first responders were dispatched to the scene to administer care and assist where needed. Due to the accident, police closed the northbound lane of the highway and traffic was substantially delayed as a result. However, one-way traffic was permitted while investigators documented the scene and spoke with victims and witnesses. Initial reports suggest that a vehicle may have gone over the embankment, but those have not been confirmed by the California Highway Patrol.

Officials did reveal that at least one individual died as a result of the crash, but they would not clarify how many people had been injured and the name of the victim has not yet been released as officers contact the individual’s next of kin.
