Orangevale Resident Killed During Tragic Accident in Williams, CA
Barbara Newton Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash
Williams, California (June 19, 2018) – A female driver was killed as a result of a tragic accident that took place off Highway 16, near the westbound traffic lanes of Highway 20, on Sunday, June 18, 2018. Sources have identified the deceased as 52-year old Orangevale resident Barbara Newton, who died instantly after her car overturned on the highway.
According to California Highway Patrol PIO Franco Castillo, Newton was driving her 2016 Ford Fusion eastbound on Highway 20 when she veered off center and into the right shoulder. In an instant, her vehicle clipped the guardrail, which resulted in her losing control. Newton swerved into oncoming traffic.
At this time, a 2006 Honda Civic, driven by 44-year old Stockton resident Abel Martir and carrying four passengers, approached through the westbound lanes and crashed into the side of the Ford Fusion. The impact overturned the vehicle and instantly killed Newton.
Sources show that Abel Martir sustained severe injuries. Two passengers, 43-year old Monica Martir and an unidentified 15-year old, received only minor injuries. 18-year old Isaias Martir and an additional unnamed 15-year old occupant were not injured in the accident. The identities of the younger passengers have not been released to the public.
