Fresno County, CA – Authorities Identify Driver Killed during Violent Traffic Accident on Highway 180 and Frankwood Avenue
Fresno County, CA (August 7, 2018) – Local news have identified the driver who died as the result of a brutal traffic collision at the junction of Highway 180 and Frankwood Avenue. The incident happened at approximately 1:00 PM Sunday, August 5, 2018.
Authorities have identified the deceased driver as Kenneth Hockersmith. At the time of the accident, he was accompanied by 62-year-old Chico resident Don Hockersmith and Peoria, Arizona resident, Ronald Hockersmith.
Officials have also revealed the second driver involved in the accident as 18-year-old Clara Lemus. Records indicate she was accompanied by 19-year-old Juan D. Hernandez and 12-year-old Richard Hernandez. All occupants of this vehicle are from Lindsay, California.
As indicated in a report from the California Highway Patrol, Lemus had been driving a 2000 Toyota along Frankwood and stopped her vehicle at a stop sign at the highway junction. Hockersmith was driving a Jeep along westbound 180 in the direction of Frankwood. Lemus tried to cross the highway and crashed into the side of the oncoming Jeep. The Jeep flipped over as a result.
Officials confirmed that Kenneth Hockersmith died at the crash site.
Don and Ronald Hockersmith were sent to a nearby hospital in Fresno where they received treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
Lemus and her two passengers did not sustain injuries in the crash.
